They say if you find a job you love, you’ll never work another day in your life. However, this isn’t necessarily true. Some jobs are much more stressful than others and just because you enjoy what you do, it doesn’t make it any less stressful.

Social workers
Working within the social care sector may be rewarding, but it’s also one of the most stressful; industries you can get into. Social workers in particular tend to experience high stress levels throughout their career.
Most notably, social workers often have anti-social work hours and they work within a difficult environment. There’s always a risk of dealing with aggressive patients, though very little protection is provided.
Forex trading
Another high-stress job is forex trading. While there are opportunities to partake in lower risk trading, these rarely produce enough income to make trading a profession. High-risk trading is extremely stressful, but the rewards are potentially huge.

Teacher
Teachers are often seen as having the ideal job due to the number of holidays they receive. However, they don’t actually get as many holidays as you might think. During the holidays, most teachers end up spending a huge amount of time planning, marking and preparing for the next term.
There’s a massive amount of paperwork which needs to be done, standards continuously need to be met and sadly not all pupils are easy to teach! Problem behaviours are common, and the pay isn’t as good as you might think either. So, while it is a very rewarding career choice, it’s also a very stressful one!

The negative effects of stress are well-known and prolonged stress is especially bad for the mind and body. However, did you know there’s a way to turn the stress from your job into a positive?
According to research, stress is only bad for us if we believe it is. However, if we can switch our thinking to associating stress as a positive thing, it can instead change our lives for the better. Seeing it as a challenge or a step in the right direction, can actually energise you and set you up to overcome any challenges you may face in life.
